“Elli Maven and I have collaborated on two projects over the last year, short films to accompany music that I’ve produced with my band Astral Summer. This band — spawned by pandemic isolation and access to technology — has allowed me to make music that’s far closer to the music I hear in my head than what I’ve produced in guitar-driven bands in the past. The two songs we worked on, “Sad Season” and “Lucia (Love Yourself)” are both electronics-driven and awash in sparkling textures and sonic flourishes that my music never had before. 

Elli and I bounced ideas back and forth. I explained how these sounds “looked” in my mind, synesthesia-wise. I sent images from the web of colors and textures that resembled what i saw when I closed my eyes and listened. Then Elli sent me the rough drafts and both times tears ran down my face to see something so utterly intangible from my imagination somehow brought forth on the screen. It was a little eerie and it has even strengthened my own faith in my artistic and aesthetic vision. 

In addition to honoring her own fiercely individual creative vision, Elli Maven excels equally at collaboration, helping other artists manifest their creations across an array of platforms. I believe that she would be an asset to any program, but especially in a program designed to empower other creators and help them maximize their cultural impact in years to come.”

Elli is without a doubt one of the most creative people I know. She is an artist who lives and breathes her work in all aspects of her life. She makes every effort to stay on the cutting edge of the technology she uses to make something new and different with each piece. When she approached me with the idea for our collaboration it was an easy yes. I have known Elli most of my adult life and I knew whatever she created with my art it would be amazing. It took countless conversations to advise me on how to film videos and to take the styles of photos she would need. She never lost patience with me. She communicated with each step and the enthusiasm she brought to our piece was contagious. The finished product is not like anything I have seen and I love it. Positive experience and positive vibes from the folks at Wavpixlab, Elli and David.

These wonderful people orchestrated an interesting interview with myself and three of my band mates.

Elli, Founder & Creative Director of Wavpixlab, made a really creative and original lyric video for my group Sidework Syndicate’s song The Bison Spine. The basis of which was about a specific part of a native spiritual beliefs and she nailed the essence of tone and sensory we felt writing the music. Her insight to the music community and videography industry has been impactful on Sidework in the best ways.

We’ve always enjoyed working with Elli and Wavpixlab and will continue through our respective careers.
